France bans extremely thin, unhealthy, models in advertising
All too often do we see fashion advertisements that use dangerously-thin models to show off new products. Not only can this lead to poor self-esteem among young people exposed to these images, but it also sets an unrealistic, unhealthy standard for how a body show look. To put a stop to these unrealistic images, France has banned the use of unhealthily thin fashion models. When applying to jobs, models will need to provide a doctor’s certificate attesting to their overall physical health, with special regard to their body mass index, a measure of weight in relation to height. The use of digitally altered photos will also have to be explicitly stated on the advertisement under the new law. READ MORE
