A team of researchers says that marriage may have actual health benefits for your heart. Based on their study of nearly a million U.K. adults, the researchers reported that loving a spouse is linked to a better chance of surviving a heart attack.

They suspect marriage helps buffer against big heart disease and encourages people to look after themselves better.

Nuts and especially tree nuts such as hazelnuts, chestnuts and walnuts reduce the chances of the cancer coming back, a new study shows.

People eating two ounces a handful or more of nuts every week reduce the risk of cancer recurring by 42 percent, and lower their chances of dying from the cancer by 57 percent.

Researchers look at colon cancer that has an average three-year survival rate of around 70 percent, but this percentage improved dramatically in patients who were regularly eating nuts.  But the benefits weren’t seen in those eating peanuts… but that’s because peanuts aren’t nuts.  So one might  READ MORE

A new Canadian study finds that probiotics, used to reduce gastrointestinal distress, also appear to mitigate symptoms of depression.

McMaster University researchers discovered twice as many adults with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) reported improvements from co-existing depression when they took a specific probiotic than adults with IBS who took a placebo. The findings appear in the medical journal Gastroenterology.
