“In 2009, first quarter sales of personal lubricants soared 32% to 41.2 million.” No longer strange or unusual, lubricant usage is up! And, since Time Magazine reported there are chemicals found in industrial anti-freeze and oven cleaner, if you’re one of those users, be sure to read the label and look for something that’s as natural as nature.
My Magic Menopause Moment
Susan writes in with her Magic Moment:
After the age of 51, the year I was going into menopause, I noticed sex was getting difficult with my husband. I was dry, so I began to buy over the counter products to assuage the dryness in the vagina. Most contained irritating chemicals that felt like burning in the vaginal walls, so I began looking on the internet for natural alternatives. Aloe Cadabra is a terrific product. The ingredients are natural and non-irritating and non toxic, and it is it totally natural feeling. It lubricates well and I don’t have to worry about “drying out” in the middle of sex. Thank you for this wonderful product.

Lubrication to Relieve Vulvar Pain
Feeling chapped, pinched, or itchy is no way to feel ready for any sexual activity, much less be comfortable in general, so for women experiencing vulvar pain, lubrication and healthy skin are critical concerns.
Alex at VulvarVestibulitisRelief.com has put together a list of her “rock stars” of moisturization and lubrication, with attention to ingredients, cost, and pain relief or skin nourishing benefits. Aloe Cadabra is on the list, as is Vitamin E oil! We know the healing and soothing powers of aloe and the anti-aging properties of Vitamin E, so it sounds like Aloe Cadabra enriched with Vitamin E must be a winner!
Lubricant is Supposed to Feel Good, Not Irritate!
lesrolo asks “What is the best personal lubricant. Tried K-Y but ended up with a severe irritation around the vaginal openin [sic]” on Yahoo! Answers. We’re biased about the first part, and definitely have some thoughts about the second!
When talking about something you’re going to put on or into your body, we think the term “best” needs to include being beneficial to your health and free from harmful chemicals. This seems to be especially important for those delicate and personal areas where natural, organic Aloe Cadabra is meant to go!
Check out this chart for a simple reference of some things to look out for in personal lubricants!:
Is Lubricant Safe Enough To Eat?
fcrabezvaqex asked the following on Yahoo! Answers:
“Is K-Y Lubricant (or other store brand personal lubricant) safe if swallowed?”
terrydbouvier answered “KY is just water and cellulose. Although it’s not intended to be eaten, it’s harmless if ingested”, but we think it’s wise to be more clear and cautious than that. Most personal lubricant brands have more than one formula, with a variety of features and ingredients. Some formulas of KY, for example, contain chemicals used primarily as food preservatives and in cleaning solutions and automotive antifreeze.
By contrast, not only is it all right to ingest Aloe Cadabra®, many people find that aloe is a great way to aid with digestion. In fact, there are numerous health drinks made with raw aloe. We’re not recommending that you make a beverage from Aloe Cadabra®, but everything in it is “food grade” and certified organic for your health and safety. Good to know, huh?
To check in on the chemical and toxic contents of a wide variety of personal products, we like to recommend the Environmental Working Group’s Cosmetics Database, so you can inform yourself about what’s in the products you’re putting on – and into – your body! We’ve written before about the importance of choosing healthful products for your body, here and here.
