Napping could reduce your risks of suffering from cardiovascular disease
It’s commonly known among sleep enthusiasts that napping during the day can restore alertness, enhance performance, and boost your overall mood. More recently, a new study has found that midday naps are good for more than just that. Researchers found that people who nap during the day are more likely to experience a drop in blood pressure, just as significantly as other lifestyle changes, and thus reduce their risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases like heart attack. The research team reached these findings by analyzing 212 participants, half of whom napped during the day and the others sleeping only at night. After adjusting for factors known to affect blood pressure levels (like age and gender), the researchers found that those who took a nap during the day experienced lower blood pressure. Considering the great benefits (and pleasure) that come with napping, it would seem reasonable for everyone to reserve at least an hour a day for a good old snooze. READ MORE
