First solar freeway in U.S will roll out on famous Route 66
Roads are flat surfaces that often catch a lot of sunlight. So, they provide ideal places to generate solar power. Now, the state of Missouri is planning to pave a stretch of the famous interstate highway, Route 66, with energy-generating photovoltaic pavers—the first such panels on a public right of way in the U.S. The project is led by Solar Roadways. The company claims that replacing all of America’s roads and parking lots with their solar pavers would generate more than three times the country’s electricity consumption. READ MORE
